WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is an naturally-altered state of consciousness that is created when the
body is extremely relaxed and the mind is extremely focused. In this state, the
subconscious mind is more present, aware, and suggestible.
CAN I BE HYPNOTIZED AGAINST MY WILL?
No, you must be receptive and willing and cooperative to go into hypnosis. You
cannot be programmed or put there against your wishes. In fact, in a session,
the client undergoes a form of self-hypnosis that is guided and facilitated by
the hypnotherapist.
IS HYPNOSIS THE SAME AS MIND CONTROL?
There is no loss of control when you are hypnotized; nor can you be hypnotized
against your will. In fact, most hypnotized people are very aware of everything
that is said and done, and a person cannot be hypnotized against their will or
made to do anything against their wishes.
On that note, this is not a practice of the stage hypnotism that may come to
mind. We use this tool to help, not to entertain.
CAN I BE HYPNOTIZED?
There is a general belief that only a small percentage of people can be
hypnotized, but this is not true. Actually, nearly EVERYBODY can be reach a
hypnotic state to some degree- what varies is the depth that they can achieve,
but even this can fluctuate from day to day.
WHAT WOULD I EXPERIENCE IN HYPNOSIS?
It varies from person to person, but generally the subject feels a great sense
of relaxation and comfort. Some people may find themselves to be daydreaming or
their mind wandering, losing track of the script or voice here and there. Some
might get so deep into their own thoughts that they tune out the hypnotist
completely.
CAN I BE STUCK IN HYPNOSIS?
No, you’d either go to sleep naturally, or just wake up.
IN HYPNOSIS, WILL I REVEAL THINGS THAT ARE SECRET OR HIDDEN?
No, you will not be saying secrets that you wish to keep private. In the
hypnotic state, you find you have more control and are able to choose what you
speak aloud, just as you do in the normal state of consciousness.
Some people also wonder if they will experience things that are repressed or
hidden. This is unlikely, because the function of the subconscious mind is to
protect you. It always does the best it can at all times, and it will not expose
you to buried traumas if you are not ready to face them.
